Gulbis

Gulbis

American golf's glamorous calendar girl, Natalie Gulbis, will be looking to take some inspiration from Padraig Harrington's recent heroics this weekend.

It took her 148 winless starts before she finally found the victory recipe and won her first LPGA Tour title at the Evian Masters last year.

Gulbis needed a birdie at the last to defeat Korea's Jeong Jang and the Question now is this: Can she pull off a Padraig Harrington and successfully defend the title when it again comes up for grabs at Evian-Les-Bains in France this week.

And this in a powerful field which, in it's 15th year overall and ninth as a joint LPGA and Let event, will be missing just one of it's previous winners in Japan's Hiromi Kobayashi.

Some of the notables playing include two-time winners Annika Sorenstam (2000, 2002), Helen Alfredsson (1998, 1994) and Laura Davies (1995,

The Evian Masters is the first on the LPGA's three-event European swing, the next two being the Women's British Open, the final women's major of the year, and the Canadian Women's Open.
