Chandigarh, October 04, 2008: The Dhaka Warriors today flew into the country to start their quest for winning their inaugural ICL 20s trophy. Led by their experienced captain, Habibul Bashar, the Warriors were raring to hit the practice nets at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium here.
"It feels great to be back in India to play cricket. We have come to play in this tournament with barely a month's practice. However, we have played alongside each other for many years now and hence I believe we are a more cohesive unit than many other teams. We want to take the ICL trophy to Dhaka and we will!" vowed the Warriors’ captain Habibul Bashar.
The creation of the Dhaka Warriors has turned out to be the most talked about T20 development in the recent past. The emergence of the Warriors poses a monumental threat to all the other teams in general and ICL’s other offshore team – Lahore Badshahs particularly, in terms of both popularity and cricketing dominance. The infusion of the Warriors is sure to increase the pace of the game in this already fast avatar of cricket. Players of both sides have faced of each other in many famous cricketing duels. The ICL is just the perfect platform to further take this rivalry to greater heights. Indian league cricket’s only two offshore teams will face off each other on 7th November, 2008.
The Warriors start their campaign on 11th October, in Hyderabad, against inaugural ICL champions Chennai Superstars.
