Paes advance in doubles, mixed doubles

India's Leander Paes and Czech Lukas Dlouhy, seeded third, cruised into the men's doubles quarterfinals with a 6-3, 7-5 defeat of Americans John Isner and Sam Querrey in the Australian Open tennis at the Melbourne Park in Melbourne on Monday.
It was successful day for Paes in the mixed doubles also, where he and Zimbabwean Cara Black reached the third round. The top seeded pair overwhelmed Uzbek Akgul Amanmuradova and Rik De Voest of South Africa, 6-4, 6-2.
This is the sixth time in eight majors that Paes and Dlouhy reached the quarter-final stage.
The Indo-Czech pair won the Roland Garros and US Open titles last year, having finished runner-up at the 2008 US Open. They next play winners of the match between fifth seeds Lukasz Kubot of Poland and Austrian Oliver Marach and Croat Ivo Karlovic and Dusan Vemic of Serbia.
In the girls' doubles, India's Rishika Sunkara and Yuki Ito of Japan went down fighting to sixth seeds Anna-Lena Friedsam of Germany and Mai Grage of Denmark, 7-6(5), 2-6, (6-10) in the first round.
In the boys' doubles, India's Vaidik Munshaw and Chuhan Wang of China were ousted by fourth seeds Liang-Chi Huang of Chinese Taipei and Yasutaka Uchiyama of Japan, 2-6, 6-7(3) in the first round.
