New Delhi: Breaking News! India began their Hockey World Cup campaign on a high note, by trouncing the arch-rival Pakistan 4-1 in a Pool B encounter at the Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi. The result was quite unexpected, but India deserved the victory.

India played aggressive Hockey from the very beginning and hardly missed any good opportunity. They converted most of their penalty corners. Three of India's four goals came from the penalty corners, while Pakistan could convert just one penalty corner today.

India dominated the proceedings throughout the match. India was leading 2-0 at the half time. They added two more to their kitty in the second half, while Pakistan could manage to score just one goal.

For India, Sandeep Singh scored two goals, while Shivendra Singh and Prabhjot Singh scored one goal each. For Pakistan, Sohail Abbas scored the goal. He was unlucky to miss out on two goals, after hitting the goal bar on two penalty corners.

Sandeep Singh was declared 'Man of the Match'. With this victory, India climbs to the top of the table in Pool B. Spain and England are tied with India at the top with one victory from one game each. However, India leads the tally on goal difference. It was India's first victory over Pakistan in the last four encounters.
