The controversy at the men’s figure skating resulting from the Russian criticism of scoring that decided to give the gold medal to USA’s Lysacek over Russia’s Plushenko.
In the 2006 Olympics Russia won three gold medals in figure skating (men’s, ice dancing and pairs).
Soon after Meryl Davis and Charlie White were placed in the third position, Whites stated that “I think the pressure on the judges is to make sure they judge fairly”.
He further stated that “There are a lot of really great teams. … We look forward to just having a good event, and hopefully the judges will be as fair as possible.”
